Creamy Choc Porridge/Oatmeal (vegan, wholefood, nut free, refined sugar free)

Creamy Choc Porridge

 

This quick and easy recipe is a healthy, delicious and creamy way to eat your oats.

 

Ingredients (serves 1)

1/3 cup oats

3 tablespoons coconut cream

1/2 cup water

2 teaspoons maple syrup

1 teaspoon cocoa or cacao

Raspberries (fresh or frozen) to serve

 

Method

Add all ingredients except raspberries to a small saucepan and bring to simmer

Stir until water has boiled down and a thick consistency is reached

Serve up and top with raspberries.

 

Oats are a good source of iron and also other minerals such as Manganese, Phosphorous, Magnesium, Copper  and Zinc.  The coconut cream and cocoa also have small amounts of iron in them.  Combining the oats with raspberries (which contain vitamin C) helps to increase iron absorption.
